Library Services
Reference Services
Reference services are provided via mail, fax, telephone, email, and in person.Limited staffing necessitates that assistance to seminary students and faculty take priority over outside requests. With a letter of introduction and appropriate identification (see "Library Access") you are welcome to visit the Library and use its resources.
Interlibrary Loan
Many materials not in the Keller Library may be obtained through ILL. GTS-affiliated patrons may send requests to the Reference Librarian at library{at}gts.edu. The Librarian will contact patrons about requests, which may take several weeks to arrive.
Please note: ILL is not available for materials in Union Theological Seminary's Burke Library or the New York Public Library or for materials at other institutions from which students may borrow directly.
GTS students who have registered with Union may borrow materials from that institution's library, and individuals who live or work in New York City may apply for a New York Public Library card. Ask the reference librarian for information about how to get direct access to other libraries.
The Keller Library participates in several cooperative organizations that facilitate interlibrary loans. These are American Theological Library Association (ATLA), New York Theological Library Association (NYATLA), New York Metropolitan Reference and Research Library Agency (METRO), and OCLC.
Excluding material from the Special Collections, we will loan material that is not too old or fragile to send. We do not lend materials published before 1920, periodicals (bound or unbound) or dissertations.
Please consult with the Keller Library's Reference Librarian when planning to submit an ILL request, as there may be other, more efficient ways to obtain the material desired.
Library Hours
The Keller Library is on the east side of the Close; we are open seven days a week during the academic year.
