Keller Library Policies
General Policies
- No food, drink or pets are allowed in the library.
- Please help preserve an atmosphere of study by reserving long conversations for the lobby.
- Some materials in the stacks are too fragile to circulate or to photocopy, including any book published in or before 1920 and other materials as determined by the librarian on duty.
- Please do NOT re-shelve books after use. Place them on the marked shelves in the library stacks designed for this purpose.
- Study space is available for students in the reading room on the ground floor. The study carrells downstairs have been assigned to doctoral students and may be used by other students if not already in use.
- Books left on tables will be re-shelved nightly.
- Books on the holding shelf must be checked out. It is the patron's responsibility to turn in the books on the hold shelf on time.
GTS students may check out circulating materials for 28 days, except for course reserves, which may be borrowed for three hours at a time. GTS doctoral students and faculty may borrow circulating materials for up to one year.
Fines and Fees
- Items that circulate for 28 days: 25 cents per day; 3-day grace period; maximum fine $25.00.
- Recalled books: $1.00 per day past recall date (fine begins on the 4th day after recall)
- Lost books: cost of book as listed in Books in Print + $25.00 processing fee
- Damaged books $15.00 per book, to render book usable again. However, if book is irreparably damaged (as determined by the Head of Circulation), patron will be charged as if it is a lost book (see above).
Cell Phone Policy
- Cell phones must be switched off or to silent/vibrate upon entering the library.
- If you receive a call, please put the caller on hold and move to the lobby or outside.
- If your unattended phone rings in the library, it will be removed to a table in the lobby so as not to disturb other patrons.
