The Montgomery Story : influential comic from the Civil Rights struggle

Catching up on professional reading can be time consuming, so while I’m getting to this one a bit late, I thought it’d be better now than never. There’s a good post over at Book Patrol about The Montgomery Story, a 16 page comic published in 1957. The comic sketched out the events surrounding the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and also provided a brief guide to the principles and techniques of nonviolent resistance. The Mongomery Story (English cover)

Book Patrol goes on to write about the impact of the comic, on historic events, such as the Woolworth’s sit-ins, and its continued relevance in the world today.

The comic is available in its entirety as a .PDF from Stanford University.
